Details of the campaign-
This espionage campaign is named Operation Diànxùn and it is targeting all telecom companies. The first activity of this campaign was observed in August 2020. This campaign has been attributed to the RedDelta threat actor, which are also known as TA416 and Mustang Panda.
About the campaign-
- The threat actors tried to infect the systems of telecom companies employees with info stealer by leveraging fake Huwaei career website and lure them towards it.
- The main target of these attacks were to spy on telecom companies and collected data regarding 5G technology.
- The targets are based in Europe, Southeast Asia and the US.
Staying safe-
McAfee has recommended that a “adaptive and integrated” security infrastructure have to be built to be able to be safe from such threats.
