Summer Games 2025: What to Watch this Speedrunning Season?

Take your seats and grab your snacks because the celebration of the Summer Games 2025 has already started. The yearly speedrunning charity marathon supporting Doctors all over the world has already begun on July 6th and will end on July 12th. In this guide, we will be discussing how and what to watch during this speedrunning season.

What is Games Done Quick 2025?

Games Done Quick has been a charity fundraising entity that raises funds for charity through speedrunning for over 10 years. Volunteers play games at an exceptional speed for entertainment. The events are streamed live online, non-stop, and the charity secures all the donations. The events feature runners playing games from every generation of gaming history. They play their games live and demonstrate in detail the tips and tricks they use to achieve the fastest times.

During the events, be sure to explore the various donation incentives that can unlock extra challenges, new content, and even unique rewards, such as naming in-game characters. Ensure that you look at the list while filling out the donation.

Attendees do not need to be athletes to participate in this game. The event includes many fan interactions and gaming-themed activities. The hosts encourage people to engage with Twitch for a subscription.

When Will Summer Games Done Quick 2025 Start?

Summer Games 2025 started on 6th July, Sunday at 1:30 PM ET on Twitch. The YouTube channel will have the video on demand, usually within a few short hours after the run completes. Hence, you do not need to worry if you miss anything. There are interesting runs every day during primetime, so it’s essential to check the schedule regularly to stay updated. You should also check in during off-hours and mid-day to discover hidden gems, such as LRock617’s run of Batman Forever.

What is Worth Waiting For?

Blue Prince’s race on July 7th, Titanfall 2 race on July 9th, and Balatro run on July 11th are worth waiting for. The finale is on Saturday with a bonus run of Mario Kart World and Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2.

With the changes happening in the video game industry presently, it is favorable to have something positive. This is what the Summer Games 2025 are for. The game is needed more than ever this year as it reminds us that even after everything, video games and the people who make them are pretty cool.

There are also sufficient non-Nintendo options. The week starts with an All Emeralds Glitched run of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Balatro, the all-time favorite of Engageget, has a run scheduled on 11th July. Whereas Indiana Jones and the Great Circle make their debut. The two speedrunning legends will strive to outperform Cuphead during their time. Those who can complete that bloodbath in less time are called the leaders of the free world.

The event aims to raise money for Doctors Without Borders. The non-profit organization has an association of around 63,000 medical professionals. It provides clinical and philanthropic care in over 70 countries. Last summer, the event accounted for $2.5 million. The Games Done Quick events have raised approximately $50 million for charity till today.

Where to Watch?

If you are near Minneapolis, you can register to physically visit the events. On the other hand, you can stream the events on Twitch channels. This year’s Summer Games 2025 will include an artist alley where attendees can buy merch and collectibles. Additionally, indie game developers will have separated counters to promote their studios.
