iPhone 14 price increase to be lower than expected relative to iPhone 13, says new report

iPhone 14 series will be launched on September 7 and it is likely that the prices of these smartphones won’t differ much from previous models. A report by TrendForce specialists claims they’ll cost roughly $50 more than predecessor models, though this could change depending upon regionally available promotions or retailer offers at time-of purchase
Recent news reports reported a price increase for current generation iPhones between $30 and $100 (tandem pricing). We expect aggressive marketing strategies to result in similar results as lowered manufacturing costs due to increased efficiency.
The idea that Apple might not release an iPhone 14 Mini this year, meaning the iPhone 14 would ultimately replace it and be priced similarly to the Mini, could be one of the causes. According to rumours, an iPhone 14 Max model will be released this year, which would replace it in terms of positioning and cost.
In light of the price of the iPhone 13, TrendForce estimates that the iPhone 14 will cost roughly $750 ($50 more than the iPhone 13 Mini). Similar to the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 Max may cost roughly $850 ($50 more).
Price expectations for the Apple iPhone 14
According to the same argument, the iPhone 14 Pro models—the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max—could cost $1,050 and $1,150, respectively. When you consider the extensive list of changes that Apple is allegedly working on for them, if this information turns out to be accurate, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may end up being one of the most aggressively priced “pro” iPhones ever.
The pricing of the iPhone 14 has not yet been officially announced, and Apple never makes future product information available to the public before making an announcement. The pricing scheme for the iPhone 13 is the only information we know, as can be seen below.
Apple iPhone 13 US pricing
128GB 256GB 512GB 1TB
iPhone 13 Mini $699 $799 $999 N/A
iPhone 13 $799 $899 $1,099 N/A
iPhone 13 Pro $999 $1,099 $1,299 $1,499
iPhone 13 Pro Max $1,099 $1,199 $1,199 $1,599

A larger iPhone 14 is rumored to be joining the lineup, and it will probably be called the iPhone 14 Max. It would make sense for the iPhone 14 Max to cost $900 if Apple keeps the basic iPhone’s price at $800. If the iPhone 14 is priced comparable to the iPhone 13, it would place it exactly between the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
iPhone 14 Specifications
The specifications of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max would be far higher than those of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max, which appeared to be more standard models. Most of this year’s improvements will go toward Apple’s new Pro series. With 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, the business will debut its 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models. A 120Hz ProMotion display will be supported by the OLED screens. Additionally, the notch will be replaced with a hole punch and a pill-shaped cutout. The enhanced 48MP main camera sensor, paired with a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP telephoto camera, will also be included in the Pro variants. According to rumors, they would include the Apple A16 processor and a more potent 120Hz LTPO display with always-on capabilities. They are also rumored to have a new 48MP primary sensor with support for 8K video recording and faster LPDDR5 RAM. In these devices, Apple reportedly also plans to include an updated ultrawide-angle camera.
A 6.1-inch and a 6.7-inch OLED display will also be available for the basic 14 and 14 Max. They will, however, receive support for the common 60Hz refresh rate and keep the same broad notch as the 13 series.
Additionally, Apple is rumored to offer the updated A16 Bionic chip in the Pro models while offering the A15 Bionic chip in the regular iPhone models. This year’s iPhones will all have 6GB of RAM. On some models, it is also rumored that the battery size may increase. The battery capacity of the iPhone 14 Pro is 3200 mAh, while the battery capacity of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is 4323 mAh.
The 14 Max will have a battery capacity of 4325 mAh, compared to the ordinary 14’s 3279 mAh capacity. The newest iPhones come pre-installed with iOS 16.
The Far out Event
Whatever the case, the launch is almost approaching. On September 7, during its Fall Out event, Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 14 series, potentially coupled with new Apple Watch models.
Even though the big Apple event is less than a week away, rumors continue to circulate. The Cupertino-based business will hold its “Far out” event on September 7; it is predicted that during this time it will make some big announcements on stage regarding new iPhones, Apple watches, and improved Airpods Pro. Apple will probably have a live event in the Steve Jobs Theater on its Cupertino campus. In addition to being aired live on YouTube, Apple’s website, and the Apple TV app, the event will start at 10:30 p.m. India time.
Conclusion
In 2020 and 2021, Apple kept the same pricing scheme for the iPhone. It’s uncertain if Apple would raise prices again in 2022 given the rumors around price rises for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Speculation that Apple may discontinue the iPhone Mini and switch to a less expensive 6.7-inch iPhone complicates matters a little. According to reports from Bloomberg, Ming-Chi Kuo (via 9to5Mac), and Nikkei Asian Review, this is the case. For more such updates read here.
