Anticipated Cost and Launch Date
Though there are rumours around the market that the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 would be announced at the winter 2025 Galaxy Inpacked event, the device did not appear. This suggests that it is time to focus on winter 2026 to see the rollout. Samsung is likely to host the unpacked launch event in winter 2026.
The pricing of the upcoming launch is still blur. However, we expect Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 to start at roughly the same price as the recent model, $399. Samsung Galaxy Ring is already one of the costly smart rings- Oura Ring 4 starts at $349. So we do not expect to see a further increase in price.
Reportedly, Samsung is actually working on Galaxy Ring 2. However, they are in the early design process, which means it will take a summer or even fall to be completed and released in 2026.
Design Rumours
A rumour dated back in November 2024 suggested that the next-gen Galaxy ring will accommodate several design upgrades, including a probable slimmer profile and improved sizing. Presently, the Galaxy Ring sizing process is a little tedious. Hence, any improvement here would be praised. The leaks also suggest that Galaxy Ring 2 would launch earlier than schedule, so the design improvements are far from certain.
Leaks also reveal that Samsung will expand the size range for Ring 2, which appears to be in accordance with the recent announcement of two new sizes for the OG Galaxy ring, 14 and 15. If Samsung could add additional size options on the smaller end, the new Galaxy Ring 2 may match the Oura Ring 4.
Another possible design upgrade could be the integration of an onboard body temperature sensor. A recently trademarked Samsung patent suggests that the technology could do beyond mere monitoring the user’s temperature, but also take the temperature of a separate individual or object, utilising the outer surface of the ring.
This means you can use the ring to check both the body temperature and fever symptoms of your child if you are a parent of small kids. Additionally, the executive of Samsung, Woon-Joon Choi, suggested that other wearables, such as smart earrings and necklaces, could be in development. Whereas, Oura VP similarly suggested ‘complementary wearables’ to help your smart ring.
Possible Features
Health Features
Along with the new body temperature sensor, we may find Samsung redesigns the existing sensors or includes redundancies to enhance the overall tracking accuracy. Oura did something somewhat similar with the leap from the Oura Ring 3 to the Oura Ring 4, reevaluating the sensor array for better comfort while extending the number of sensors to improve the volume of data flow. Other new Galaxy Ring 2 health features may be driven by software. In January, the brand unveiled a range of new holistic tools currently in development and set to launch in compatible wearables lately this year.
The first is a sleep environmental report, which delivers user guides on enhancing their room conditions for the best results. It explores the factors such as room temperature, humidity, light intensity, and air quality. The new Ring 2 also aims to enhance the rest quality with a sleep time guidance tool, which exactly does what it sounds like. It recommends the ideal time to go to bed and wake up based on health factors and lifestyle. Lastly, Samsung wearables will receive a mindfulness tracker that tracks stress levels and mood by evaluating the breathing patterns of the user.
In addition to these features, Samsung also revealed multiple holistic tools joining the Samsung Health app, such as a vascular load indicator, to allow users to comprehend how their exercise and regular routine impact their heart health, with guidance on reducing stress. On the other hand, the antioxidant tracker is there to monitor beta carotene in the body to assist users in enhancing their nutrition through personalized meal plans and recipe recommendations.
Personally speaking, I have tries both the wellness monitoring tools on the Galaxy Watch 8 and found insightful tracking of vascular load. At the same time, the antioxidant index tracking was less than favourable.
Smart Features
Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 may offer beneficial integration with compatible Galaxy devices like Double Pinch gesture, which may enable you to carry out jobs remotely, like turning off the camera’s shutter or turning on silent mode on the phone’s alarm. Such smart functionality is a great thing that sets it apart from others. I totally expect something more than this. However, we still do not know what else is coming.
Battery Life
There is a high chance that there will be some improvements in the battery life for the Galaxy Ring. Reportedly, the new model would sport a solid-state battery. In comparison to the liquid electrolyte batteries, such as deliver higher energy density and quick charging. The best smart ring on the market is the Oura Ring 4, which is marketed as lasting 8 days straight. However, I did not experience this. Considering this, I am expecting a battery life of at least 10 days.
Summary
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 is expected to cost more than the current models. I expect that this will come with additional smart features that can be unlocked with one of the newest and greatest Galaxy handsets. Though everything is still not clear until the company announces it. So stay tuned to get more news on this.
