How to Make Tons of Gold in WoW with The Collector’s Bounty Event

At the start of July, Blizzard began a month-long promotion dubbed Collector’s Bounty.  If you’re not farming ancient content right now, you’re definitely missing out. This event can help you get a lot of World of Warcraft gold without too much work. What does it do?  We’ll show you everything step by step in this guide!

What Is the Collector’s Bounty Event?

The Collector’s Bounty Event began on July 1, 2025, and will last until July 29, 2025.  During this period, you’ll get a special benefit that makes loot drop more often in all legacy dungeons and raids (everything that came out before Dragonflight). You should expect to get twice as much of all the stuff that usually drops in these instances. Plus, mounts and some really rare items will drop 5% more often. These items include:

  • Eye of Sulfuras (Molten Core)
  • Bindings of the Windseeker (Molten Core)
  • Warglaives of Azzinoth (Black Temple)
  • Thori’dal, the Stars’ Fury (Sunwell Plateau)
  • Golden Hearthstone Card: Lord Jaraxxus (Nighthold)

This event is great for collectors and anyone who has been looking for certain legacy treasure for a long time but hasn’t been able to receive the drops they want. The event is also a great chance to make a lot of gold, in addition to adding to your collection.  Let’s go right to the instances and things you need to pay attention to first, without wasting any more time.

Which Instances Should You Farm First?

Molten Core

This raid has been one of the best places to get gold in the game for a long time, and with the Collector’s Bounty event going on, it’s even better today.

In addition to the legendaries we talked about before, Molten Core is also a great place to farm other valuable materials like Orbs of Deception, Dark Iron Ore (if you have Mining), and Blood of the Mountain (which is very popular right now because it’s one of the main ingredients for making Sulfuron Hammer), which can make you about 100,000 gold per hour.

Battle for Azeroth Raids

Even though weapon prices have dropped quite a bit over the years, BFA weapons still vendor for a pretty solid amount. You can expect to earn around 30,000 raw gold per hour just from boss drops and vendoring. That’s already a great chunk of gold, and it can grow several times bigger if you also put transmog gear up for sale. For example, Maddened Adherent’s Bulwark alone (drops from elite mobs in Ny’alotha, the Waking City) can easily bring you around 150,000-200,000 gold, and there are plenty more of those high-ticket mogs out there, so if you get lucky, your profits could shoot up into the hundreds of thousands of gold.

If you’re wondering which raids to prioritize, we’d definitely recommend Battle of Dazar’alor and Ny’alotha. Both are quite profitable and have a lot of expensive things, such as combat pets like Child of Pa’ku, Aqir Hivespawn, Eye of Corruption, Muar, Spawn of Krag’wa, and others that collectors really want and generally sell well.

Addons That Will Come in Handy

There are some additions that you really need to have in your toolkit if you want to get the most out of the event and make your farming as efficient as possible.

AutoLooter

You can use this addon to set up exactly what you want to auto-loot based on several filters, such as the price at the merchant or the rarity of the item. It will be a huge benefit for people who have full bags and can’t easily get to a vendor or mailbox to get rid of things.

Don’t forget to switch off the default auto-loot and check the “Ignore BoP” box in your AutoLooter settings. Don’t worry, you won’t lose your loot. When you exit the instance, whatever BoP you didn’t pick up will go straight to your mailbox.

Vendor

This add-on is great for getting rid of unwanted stuff quickly. You can change it whatever you like. For instance, you might make it automatically sell or destroy everything below a specific item level. You can sort through a lot of stuff in seconds with Vendor instead of spending hours doing it by yourself. You’ll have clean, neat bags ready to hold more stuff with only a few clicks.

All The Things

All The Things tracks basically everything in the game, from items to achievements and quests. It makes it super easy to see what you already have and plan out your farming routes, especially if you’re hunting for specific stuff, as the addon will show you exactly where to go to get the thing you’re after.

How to Get Even More Gold During the Event

LFR Runs

If you want to get more done at the event, try doing more runs in LFR mode. LFR raids are faster and easier, but the double loot buff will work the same way as it does in any other difficulty. You’ll spend less time and energy, but you’ll still make almost the same amount of money.

You don’t have to leave the city to queue up for LFR, thus you won’t have to fly across the planet looking for entrances. If you go to a capital city and chat to the special LFR NPCs, they will let you join select wings of a raid in just a few seconds. Also, you’ll start much closer to the monsters, skipping most of the garbage mobs and saving a lot of time.

However, LFR’s simplified layouts and mechanics make a lot of the regular gold sources unavailable, and most of your earnings will come strictly from boss drops. So if you’re after the more traditional types of gold farming, like selling BoEs, vendoring gray items, or farming trash for raw gold, then higher difficulty raids will probably be the better pick.

Alts

Your alts will be quite useful during the Collector’s Bounty event. You may earn even more loot and better your odds of getting those super-rare drops by logging into a different character and running the same instance again after you’ve finished a raid.

Alts are considerably more important if you’re trying to farm transmogs. They’ll enable you build up a huge, varied collection of different kinds of BoEs that will bring in more people and help you generate sales all the time.

Fast Travel Tricks to Save Time

A huge difficulty with older instances is that they don’t have teleports at the conclusion.  To change the difficulty or start the raid over, you’ll have to run a long way back to the gate. Is there a simpler method to do that?  Yes, for sure!

Just form a group in the Group Finder, then depart the party like you typically would when exiting an instance. It will start a teleport after a few seconds that will take you back outdoors, so you won’t have to walk all the way there.

Getting to instances can also take a long time, but there are techniques to make that go faster as well. Setting a map pin in the Dungeon Journal is the first step. This will enable the game determine the best way to get to the instance and lead you there.

Wormholes in engineering can also be quite helpful. These small toys can take you to practically any entrance to a raid or dungeon in the game universe. And don’t forget to buy teleport cloaks from your guild vendor, such the Shroud of Cooperation or the Cloak of Coordination. Yes, they have a significant cooldown, but it’s always good to have a way to get back to Stormwind or Orgrimmar right away.
