What Does this Show do Best?
Reportedly, the show does its best by delivering truly shocking scenes while relying heavily on character drama. In fact, the episode’s opening features one of the most jaw-dropping scenes. Despite it being a wild thing to watch on screen, the showrunners are highly commendable for pulling it off. It is wild stuff and only sets the scene for the next thing to come.
It: Welcome to Derry begins with the usual settings, by showcasing the first unlucky kid who goes missing while Pennywise stirs from his slumber. And when the formula is somewhat identical, this time it goes deeper. It focuses more on the Derry people and the creeping dread that gradually eats them.
Here is a list of best horror movies streaming apps where you can watch the episodes without breaking your bank.
How Does it Start?
HBO’s Welcome to Derry is undoubtedly a horror show, but due to its eight-episode format, it offers more space to explore the characters and make the setting truly lived-in. This is why they have introduced the Hanlon family at first and allowed us to follow their time in Derry as they adjust to an unwelcoming neighbourhood. Since many of us are already familiar with the parts from Stephen King’s novel and Mike’s interludes, it is quite easy to connect the dots and tell their story. Leory Hanlon is a Korean war veteran based in Derry who comes with his wife Charlotte and their son ‘Will’. Leroy soon engages in complex matters with General Shaw, who is dedicated to finding an ‘evil force’ that dominates part of Derry. Meanwhile, Charlotte is determined to unfold the truth about the town. There is even some fascinating narratives regarding the Native tribe that he first witnessed Pennywise when he was born.
As the series is set in the IT universe, viewers can also meet a new group of kids who not only have their own vulnerabilities in 1962, but also end up experiencing Pennywise for totally different purposes. There is nothing to reveal much right now, but the young actors are very talented, and there are really horrific scenes of the evil clown that terrify children in this place.
The cast and writers, Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane, did an amazing job of taking us back to the universe of movies, all while setting outstanding set designs that align with the decade. So you can expect enough true horror to haunt you at night for the next few weeks. Here are some best horror movies to watch today meanwhile waiting for the next episodes.
What Lets You Keep Watching?
HBO’s Welcome to Derry is one of the unique horror dramas that manages to strike a balance between horror and character drama. There are even scenes of comedy and mystery, enough to engage the audience when the horror takes a backseat.
Additionally, it would not be a justice if you did not talk about the iconic clown. Pennywise gave the limelight to Skarsgard again, who returns to the screen like he never left. However, the thing that makes IT: Welcome to Derry the best is the cast, which everyone feels believable. This is something which makes the horror scenes hit even harder. The performances of each and every one from the Hanlong family to the group of children are surprisingly outstanding.
Overall, we are all excited to see where this story moves. The Muschiettis have claimed that they are planning more seasons. There is clearly yet to be explored. So stay tuned for more updates on this story and the seasons yet to come.
