Apple TV’s New Name With Sound in Collaboration with Finneas
Do you know, your favourite Apple TV streaming service has introduced a new intro sound and video for your favourite content? Apple rebranded Apple TV Plus to only Apple TV the previous month, and the old intro prominently emphasized the ‘plus’. Hence, it is quite justified that Apple has brought a new version to complement the updated name. In this article, we will be exploring Apple TV’s new name and new sound, and how it will impact Apple.
All About Rebranded Apple TV
Apple TV plus has officially left the ‘Plus’ term in its recent effort to rebrand itself as only Apple TV. All efforts are aimed at giving the platform a fresh identity. The change was not introduced in a grand marketing event or campaign. Instead, it was accompanied by a press release on the upcoming movie F1, which is going to be live on December 12.
When Apple first rolled out the streaming platform in 2019, Apple TV was already a name in Apple’s portfolio-a set-top box, a small box that connects to televisions. It offered access to many streaming services like Roku and Amazon’s Fire TV. As per the reports by Apple Insider, this overlap created confusion from the beginning. The audience often gets confused about the app, the device, and the subscription service itself. This is why Apple might have decided to drop ‘plus’ in order to simplify the brand and establish a clearer ecosystem across hardware and content.
Apple TV’s new name came just months after Apple’s price hikes for the streaming service by above 30%. It now stands at $12.99 per month, a hike from $9.99. Apple TV also holds the position of the strongest streaming service without an ad-supported tier. This is what makes it stand out from Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video.
Apple TV’s New Name Collaborated with Finneas?
The new sound is composed in collaboration with Finneas, who is Billie Eilish’s brother and producing partner. If you have watched the entire season of Ted Lasso, Severance, or Disclaimer, you will hear the mnemonic 10 times a day. Finneas states that “it is going to be something which is like the bit of ginger between rolls or something” in an interview with Variety.
As reported by Finneas, there are three versions of this new intro sound. The main version is about five seconds long and can be heard before the episodes of a television show. There is a one-second version, a simple sting that may be played during a movie trailer. And then there is an extended version of around 12 seconds that can be witnessed in a movie theater at the start of an Apple Studios original movie like Killers of the Flower Moon. Apple TV’s new name also comes with a new intro featuring an animation of the new multi-coloured Apple TV logo, which had already started to appear elsewhere.
Apple’s Head of Music, David Taylor, stated that ‘Finneas offered Apple an entirely original sound which feels cinematic and magical’. Check other updates on the Apple TV app in 2025.

How It All Started?
The Apple TV streaming service was first introduced with eight original series, including The Morning Show, Dickinson, See, Servant, and For All Mankind. It has been pioneering in the streaming service with the Best Picture Oscar with CODA. Apple Original Movie- The Boy, The Mole, The Horse and The Fox also won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short. Till now, Apple Original Films, documentaries, and series have won around 620 awards and 2816 award nominations, including the multi-Emmy-winning comedy Ted Lasso. Overall, Apple landed 22 prizes at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. Here is everything about Apple TV’s festive sales.
When Will the Rebranding Show Up?
The rebranding effort of Apple TV’s new name is still rolling out on Apple products, and the TV app will continue to read Apple TV plus for now. Apple will likely update all Apple TV+ wording in the Apple TV app with the next iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, tvOS 26.1, and macOS Tahoe 26.1 updates.
Apple TV is not the only streaming service to remove the ‘+’ sign from the name. CNN+, a branded streaming news service which closed less than a month after launching in 222, is returning with the new name CNN All Access. On the other hand, ESPN+ effectively sunset during a new ESPN app launch earlier this year. Although there are still some streaming services left with a plus sign. For example, Shore perceives that this gradual drop shows a reduced need for distinguishing between the streaming offerings.
Shore also pointed out that this has always happened when a novel technology rolled out and became ubiquitous. Dropping the plus sign from Apple’s streaming brand while still preserving other products with the name has shifted the burden of communication and clarity to the users and others who may be talking about the products.
