Nurseries and childminders have received warnings of cyber attacks threats in guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). This is the first time that such warnings have been issued to these kinds of sector. It has warnings for parents to use passwords to protect their information.
The cyber agency mentions that pre-school and other such organizations are slowly getting dependent on technology and thus turning into an appealing target for cyber-attacks.
The cyber criminals may try to seek personal information about all children or their parents, to target the payment method of parents, etc.
They also send spam emails claiming to reset password, receiving compensation, missed delivery, etc. The education sector for all age groups is being targeted in such a manner. Universities have also experienced cyber-attacks which targeted research data which caused disruption to the computer system.
The warning issued also tells internet users to protect computers and mobiles against spam phone calls and text messages or emails.
