OGUser has created a massive forum for selling gaming and social media handles. This forum has been active for four years. However, even the enemies can have enemies.
OGUser has faced attack and has been hacked for the fourth time in the last two years. The database of this forum contains private data that is now for sale at $3000. The forum had vulnerabilities in the plugin that were used in the forum. Attackers used these vulnerabilities to hack forum and get access of the entire database.
Why does this matter?
These attack on hackers can be beneficial for cyber security researchers and the law enforcement. The data leak caused by the hack can expose the threat actors and their IP address. This can lead to revealing of the real identities of the attackers.
Similar hacking of the hackers
- An online cybercriminal card shop named Swarmshop was hacked and their database got stolen payment cards got leaked. The database contained huge number of record of victims from various countries.
- Mazafaka, an invite-only forum was hacked and numerous usernames and other credentials were extracted and dumped in the dark web.
- ZHtrap is another botnet which deployed honeypots which were capable of hijacking their rival botnet infrastructure.
