IT Firms are at a Greater Risk of Cyberattacks

IT FIRM Blogs | IEMLabs

Amid this ongoing pandemic situation IT companies are at high risk of cyberattacks. Within the last few weeks several IT firms witnessed direct cyberattacks which affected both their reputation and business.

The most popular cyberattacks include the ransomware attack on the European IT services and consultancy company, Sopra Steria owing to which the company may have suffered from a financial loss of $48 to $60 million. Similarly the web hosting solution provider faced a ransomware attack which had taken down its entire web hosting infrastructure, including WordPress and DotNetNuke managed hosting solutions, online databases, email servers, DNS and FTP servers, and RDP access points. Employees of GoDaddy  were manipulated by attackers during attacks on multiple cryptocurrency services, including Liquid and NiceHash.

Moreover, cybercriminals have also been targeting the IT products that are used by numerous people and can have a global impact. Further, cybercriminals have been targeting popular IT products used by a massive population, and could potentially have a global impact. Attackers were seen using Google’s free services namely Google Forms, Google Firebase, Google Sites, and Google Docs to create convincing phishing campaigns.

Cybercriminals always have this tendency to attack major IT firms and organizations. So, experts recommend managing VPN access, employing domain monitoring, actively scanning and monitoring web applications, and employing the zero trust architecture.
